Research laboratories

The main aims of Mansoura University are education, scientific research and community service. Accordingly, one of the most basic components of the Department of Geology is the student and scientific research laboratories. These labs are the core for the faculty members and assistant staff members to conduct experiments and scientific research analyses.

We believe that the primary objective of knowledge is to serve the local, regional and international community by participating with others in conducting and publishing research and studies in the various applied geosciences and humanities and working to apply them in appropriate community activities.

  1. Student laboratories

The student laboratories of the Geology Department are located upstairs on the first floor. The Geology Department includes 4 student laboratories, each with a capacity of 8 benches, and they are equipped with data show devices. These labs are:

  1. Geology Lab-1: It contains samples of different types of rocks, minerals, various fossils, crystal models and maps used in teaching different Earth science subjects.
  2. Geology Lab-2: This lab is equipped with fossil microscopes, which are used to investigate and study internal and external characters of microfossils, in addition to samples of minerals, rocks and crystals of large and invertebrate microfossils.
  3. Geology Lab-3: It is an air-conditioned lab and has multiple polarized mineral microscopes, which are used in the study of different igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary minerals and rocks, as well as reflecting microscopes, which are used in the study of ore minerals.
  4.  Applied geophysics Lab: This lab is equipped with the advanced computers with modern  specifications to download the latest geological programs in the study of petroleum reservoirs, geological mapping and geophysical data processing and interpretation.
