The Minister of Higher Education Holds a Meeting with Mansoura University’s Council, in the Framework of his Field Tour to Inspect Higher Education Institutions at Dakahlia Governorate

Today, Tuesday noon, Dr. Ayman Ashour- Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research held a meeting with Mansoura University’s Council at Mansoura University.

The attendees were: Dr. Ayman Mokhtar- Governor of Dakahlia, Prof. Cherif Khater- President of Mansoura University, Dr. Hesham Farouk – The Minister’s Assistant for Digital Transformation, Dr. Anwar Esmail- Executive Director of Consultation and Research Box, and a number of prestigious members of University’s Council.

By the beginning of the meeting, the Minister listened to a recorded film about the research and educational developments that the University performed, and their role in serving the surrounded governorates, especially the medical field as the University’s Hospitals offered medical services for 1,8 million citizens annually.

On one hand, the Minister congratulated Prof. Cherif Khater for being appointed as President of Mansoura University as he confirmed that Mansoura University is considered one of the distinguished public universities and plays an important role in developing Delta governorates in all educational and service sectors according to Egypt’s vision 2030. Further, he pointed out the University’s role in qualifying the students to enter the labour market thanks to its elite scientific members.

During the meeting, Dr. Ayman Ashour praised the great care of higher education system and scientific research by the political leadership. Further, it can be shown in the national projects that are performed on the land of Dakahlia governorate and other ones. He presented the Ministry’s vision and its strategic plan of establishing the new national universities. He noted that the administrative sector of the national universities will include three vice-presidents in order to achieve the goals behind establishing these universities as follows: (vice-president of the university for academic affairs- vice-president of the university for international relations- vice president of the university for linking employment with academic programs). He pointed out the importance of achieving the integration among the national and public universities.

The Minister confirmed the importance of signing cooperation agreements among the public and nation universities, and foreign ones with distinguished international ranking in order to exchange experiences and improving skills of faculty members and teaching assistants.

During the meeting, Prof. Cherif Khater presented a presentation about the highlighted national projects that the University currently performs in order to upgrade its the educational and research system. One of these projects is liver plant project with estimated total cost of 362 million Egyptian Pounds. It consists of: 9 floors and includes 3 operation rooms, 14 intensive care beds, 5 recovery beds, 56 beds for patient’s accommodation. In addition, there is a project of Mansoura National University with total cost of 2,6 billion Egyptian Pounds. Besides, there is a project for Mansoura Technological University with total cost of 34 million Egyptian Pounds that consists of three faculties, central workshops, services area, and sports’ activities on an area of 20 acres.

Prof. Cherif Khater added that the New Oncology Center is one of the distinguished projects that the University performs with total cost of 15,5 million Egyptian Pounds. It consists of a ground floor, seven upper floors, and a roof to offer services of radiation therapy. In addition, there is a project for the three medical centers with estimated total cost of 570 million Egyptian Pounds. It consists of: obstetrics and gynecology center, neuroecology center, and an orthopedic surgery center, on an area of 7200 meters. It consists of a ground floor, 8 repeated pattern floors, and includes 760 beds in different specializations. In addition, there is a project of Central Students Building at the Faculty of Engineering with total cost of 72 million Egyptian pounds. It consists of a ground floor, 7 upper floors, and it is considered the biggest educational building at Mansoura University and there is plan to manage this building with smart technology.

The President of the University noted that the University is establishing the educational building of Mansoura Manchester Program at the Faculty of Medicine. The building consists of the followings: a ground floor, 8 upper floors and a service one. It is designed to offer modern ways in medical education, especially with the increase number of students who are studying at the Faculty of Medicine. In addition, there is a new educational building at the Faculty of Computers with total cost of 75 million Egyptian Pounds. This building consists of a ground floor and six repeated pattern floors. There is an attached Administrative floor (A) at the Faculty of Law which consists of a basement and a ground floor, 4 upper floors, and electronic test centers with estimated total cost of 118 million Egyptian Pounds. In addition, there is a University’s Hotel at Ras ElBar City which consists of a ground floor and two upper ones. The upper floor consists of hotel rooms and the hotel includes 45 rooms with a unique location at Ras ElBar City. There is a project for students’ hospitals as the level of the hospital is upgrading as well as the medical suite in the second floor of the hospital with total cost of 11 million Egyptian Pounds. Further, there is a project of Intrinsic Specialized Hospital with total cost of 95 million Egyptian pounds.

On the other hand, the Minister welcomed the ambassadors and cultural attachés who represent International students who are studying at Mansoura University and came to attend the Orientation Day of International Students at the University that aimed at recognizing the 18 faculties of the University as well as defining the various education programs as well as the social and entertainment services that the University offers for these students.
