Program mission

Preparing a distinguished graduate in the field of statistics and computer science qualified to compete in the local and regional labor market and capable of conducting advanced scientific research to serve the community and develop the environment.


 
The aims of B.Sc. Statistics & Computer Science program
 
 
1) Providing students with the proper knowledge, intellectual, practical, and professional skills that qualify them to deal easily with integrated fields of mathematical statistics and computer science.
2) Make use of facts and theories of statistics and computer science to analyze and interpret scientific data.
3) Provide students with high quality education in basic science, mathematical statistics and computer science relevant to NARS and community requirements.
4) Applying computer science and statistical analysis in studying, identifying, describing and analyzing statistical and mathematical models
5)  Acquire students with the knowledge and the understanding that qualify them for postgraduate studies and research in mathematical statistics and computer science fields
6) Offering curricula for statistics, computer science and mathematics that meet the scientific, economic, and environmental needs of the community.
7) Actively participate in teamwork, self-development, and lifelong learning.
8) Effective application of relevant information technology in the field of statistics and computer science 

 
Attributes of the graduates

1) Recognize the role of Basic Sciences in the development of society.
2) Develop scientific approaches that meet community needs considering economic, environmental, social, ethical, and safety requirements.
3) Utilize scientific facts and theories to analyze and interpret practical data.
4) Collect, analyze, and present data using appropriate formats and techniques.
5) Postulate concepts and choose appropriate solutions to solve problems on scientific basis.
6) Apply effectively information technology relevant to the field.
7) Participate effectively in a multidisciplinary teamwork and be flexible for adaptation, decision making and working under contradictory conditions as well as exhibiting the sense of beauty and neatness.
8) Adopt self and long life-learning and participate effectively in research activities.
9) Deal with scientific data in Arabic, English or other languages
10) Reveal wide background knowledge related to the different branches of computer science and statistics.
11) Use such knowledge and understanding in the modeling and design of computer-based systems in a way that demonstrates comprehension of the transaction involved in design choices.
12) Apply statistical, computing knowledge and skills to the solution of real life problems.
13) Use computer science applications to solve statistical problems.
14) Understand the statistical reasoning and alternative ways of thinking
