We are pleased to welcome visitors to the website of the Mathematics Department at the Faculty of Science at Mansoura University, which was established to meet the needs of its students and to communicate with the likes of mathematics departments in Egyptian, regional, and international universities.

And based on the importance of mathematics, being one of the oldest and most important sciences, it is the language of science that all sciences adopt for their development and interpretation of natural phenomena, and it is like the rain that helps those sciences flourish and develop.

And based on the university’s principle of serving the community and providing specialized scientific frameworks, as well as the department’s mission to provide its students with logical thinking skills and arithmetic and analytical skills, and to teach them ways, means and strategies for solving problems related to reality through the logical question; Where, how, and when is mathematics applied?

I hope that this site will be a window to highlight the development of the department scientifically and research, and help our students in the continuity of learning at all times, through the efforts of loyal faculty members in it, and adherence to the directives of the Deanship of the College and the Presidency of the University in achieving the plans drawn to meet the needs of the community, and keep pace with Scientific development in the world, as well as the relentless pursuit of our department and college, as well as our university, to the top of the pyramid of scientific and research excellence.

The Department of Mathematics aspires to be one of the most important departments of mathematics at the educational and research level in Egypt, the Arab world, and the African region by 2030.

Mission

Providing distinguished mathematics programs that serve education and scientific research and help to possess their skills and create a sound scientific environment that encourages creativity and cooperation between students and faculty members and shows the beauty and splendor of mathematics and its applications in various sciences and community service.

Objectives

The Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science, Mansoura University, aims to provide a distinguished university education in the mathematics sciences. It also looks forward to providing the community with graduates who are qualified in teaching mathematics and raising the level of scientific research, as well as possessing the skills necessary to qualify them to compete in the labor market.

The Department of Mathematics was established since the establishment of the College of Science in 1969 as one of the six main departments. Students studying in the Department of Mathematics are granted a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics. The study at the undergraduate level is divided into two divisions, namely, Mathematics division and Statistics and Computer Science division. While there are four majors for postgraduate students (Master's and PhD), which are (Pure Mathematics - Applied Mathematics - Statistics - Computer Science). As of January 2021, Mathematics Department consists of 50 staff members and 20 members of the supporting staff (Demonstrators and Assistant Lecturers).
