Vision, Mission and Objectives

Vision

The Department of Geology at Mansoura University seeks to provide the highest levels of education through a continuous review and expansion of educational and research programs, in addition to awareness programs in order to build generations of well-trained geologists in the academic and professional fields who are able to respond to the needs of society.   Moreover, the department aims to expand its role as a distinguished department in the strategically important delta region that has proven natural gas reserves and some new oil discoveries in concession areas close to the city of Mansoura.

This will allow the members involved to work together as participants responsible for the development of society.

Mission

The Department of Geology at Mansoura University aims to provide excellence for students in the various stages of study for the Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD’s in order to prepare students for academic, industrial, governmental, or teaching fields.

This can be done by training students in critical thinking, initiatives and skills necessary for earth science to become familiar with this specialization throughout their lives. Bachelor's programs in geosciences provide a solid foundation in earth sciences, and because of our strategic location in the Nile Delta and its proximity to the Sinai Peninsula and the Eastern Desert, there are special opportunities for field, laboratory, and academic education in various topics of geosciences.

Emphasis will be placed on learning basic concepts and techniques through research in an environment that encourages the development of this profession and its adherents socially, culturally and humanly, as well as with deep ethical values.

In this way, the Department of Geology will contribute to enriching society with science through the creation and dissemination of new knowledge in various fields of scientific research.
